Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Racers Emily Todd and Shane Sommer break through to Top Ten at Can Ams

Emily Todd receives 7th place certificate from Eric Guay, Canadian World Cup Alpine Ski Racer.
Top results for Emily Todd of Wentworth Ski Race Club and Shane Sommer of Martock Ski Race Club who both placed in Top Ten in the Super G event at Easterns this past week.
The Eastern Can Am Championships are held yearly at the end of each ski race season and welcome over 140 of the top alpine ski racers from the Eastern USA, the Atlantic Provinces, Ontario and Quebec. Athletes from Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and PEI) are chosen based on the highest cumulative National points in the Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom events.
The U14 Eastern Can Am Championships were held in Sugarloaf, Maine, USA on March 20th-April 1st, 2018. The Atlantic Provinces sent five female and five male racers as Canada East, three of which were from Nova Scotia; Kate Childs (WSRC), Mitchell Larkin (MSRC) and Shane Sommer (MSRC). Shane Sommer had the fourth fastest time in the Super G event. a break-through placing for the Atlantic Provinces at a race of this caliber.

The U16 Eastern Can Am Championships were held April 2nd-5th, 2018 at Mont Tremblant, Quebec. Canada East sent six female and six male alpine ski racers of which five were from Ski Nova Scotia: Emily Todd (WSRC), Jess Harmon (WSRC), Elsie Gillis (MSRC), Grant Keefe (WSRC) and Cole Fraser (MSRC) to represent the Atlantic Provinces. Emily Todd had the seventh fastest time in the Super G event, another trail-blazing time for an Atlantic ski racer!
